ANDREW MILLER

Brooklyn, New York

AFFILIATION:
Project Manager, Forest City Ratner Companies

AREA OF EXPERTISE: Mixed-use urban development, with a particular interest in the impact of neighborhood design on value

BACKGROUND & EXPERIENCE: Andrew works with Forest City Ratner, a Brooklyn-based affiliate of Forest City Enterprises specializing in complex mixed-use redevelopment projects and public-private partnerships. While there, his projects have included historic restoration and preservation, adaptive reuse, and brownfield components, with a particular focus on bringing new retail development to underserved urban markets. His graduate research addressed the impact of neighborhood parks on home value as a means of encouraging private community developers to incorporate open space. Trained as an architect, Andrew previously worked as a designer of residential and mixed-use projects in Seattle.

RESEARCH INTEREST:  Andrew’s research will address the impact of neighborhood and community retail on housing value.  In particular, the research will focus on the use of proximity-based value gradients as a design tool for incorporating neighborhood retail in new communities, and as a means of targeting new investment in established communities.
