Seaside, FL Seminar, March 6-9, 2003 The seminar in Seaside, the first New Urbanist town, was the last seminar for the 2002-2003 Knight Fellows and the first gathering for the 2003-2004 Fellows. The joint seminar featured guest lectures, walking tours, and presentations by the graduating class of Fellows. Guest lecturers included:
Fellows took walking tours of the towns of Seaside, Rosemary Beach, and WaterColor. The Seaside tour was led by Elizabeth Plater-Zyberk, who discussed the early history and development of the town. In addition to the final presentations by graduating Fellows, the seminar included an in-depth discussion of the 2002 Knight Program charrette, which focused on the Evergreen-Eastridge section of San Jose. After the seminar, Knight Program Director Charles Bohl and five Knight Fellows went on to tour Haile Village Center in Gainesville, Fl and Celebration in Orlando, FL. In Celebration they met with the town architect and residents. |
