REAL ESTATE DEVELOPMENT METHODS FOR
URBAN REDEVELOPMENT AND PRESERVATION OFFERED BY THE KNIGHT PROGRAM IN COMMUNITY
BUIDLING ON MARCH 16-17, 2006
FEBRUARY 13,
2006 -- Traditional downtowns, main streets, and historic districts are
experiencing a renaissance nationwide. People want dynamic, pedestrian-friendly
main street environments in which to shop, work, live, and socialize. As this
trend grows, professionals involved in development, planning, and community
building are seeking the knowledge, tools, and resources needed to revitalize
these areas and breathe new life into old buildings.
This intensive
seminar focuses on the challenges and opportunities of urban redevelopment and
preservation. Experienced developers and experts share knowledge and techniques
for identifying competitive opportunities and orchestrating successful real
estate development projects.
The course
reviews fundamentals of real estate development, the development process,
industry specific terminology, and incentives for development. Participants
learn from real-world examples, including an in-depth case study on downtown
historic real estate; walk through the steps necessary to finance a project; and
leave with a basic knowledge of the workings of real estate development.
