This grand tour of Europe, led by UM School of Architecture
Professor Tomas Lopez-Gottardi,
offers you an opportunity to visit four of Europe's most fascinating
countries. First stop is Paris, the pulse of France. Study the
architectural and artistic intricacies of the Champs Elysses, the Place
Vendome, the Opera House, and the Eiffel Tower.
In Italy, float down Venice's Grand Canal, stroll through
the Piazza de la Signoria and the Ponte Vecchio in Florence. Then in Rome,
behold St. Peter's Square, the Trevi Fountain, and the ruins of the
Empire.
In Greece, get a taste of the hubbub of Athens, atop the
majestic Acropolis, while viewing the Parthenon and the Athena Nike
Temples. Gain an appreciation for the beautiful Greek isles that are
dotted with the architectural treasures of antiquity.
In Spain, contrast the basilicas, cathedrals, and plazuelas
of old Madrid to the monuments, avenues, and plazas of the modern city.
You will enhance your knowledge of Western civilization
from ancient Greece to modern times as you visit these extraordinary
architectural, urbanistic, and artistic locations.
