The School of Architecture is committed to excellence in design and architecture, at every level.
Faculty and students draw upon the current and ever-evolving body of knowledge of architecture to understand the history of the profession, traditional building methods, materials, form, and organization.
Our compelling mission is to design environmentally-responsible buildings that promote social integration and economic sustainability; to support life comfortably, respecting our ecosystems, and without extravagant use of land and energy. We continuously capitalize on new knowledge and technology while honoring the legacy of building and making new discoveries, in works of the past.
We acknowledge our responsibility to contribute to the world by making it more beautiful, while striving to reveal that beauty in its most humble form. We believe that instances of monuments are special opportunities to speak for and about culture, and our responsibility should be shared with allied professions.
The School of Architetcure seeks to be a model for its community, sharing a common goal with our professional partners and national colleagues. To extend this understanding to a larger world, we dedicate ourselves, through a clear engagement of principles of history, structure, material, and form in design.
We promote a responsible use of resources and technology to participate practically and empathetically in the life of other cultures, religions, ethnicity, and life experiences; all this, so that we might emerge with the knowledge and wisdom we need, to build a better world.
