Applications for incoming freshmen are processed and reviewed by the Office of Admissions. All application materials (application, transcripts, portfolio and letters of recommendation) must be postmarked or received no later than November 1 (Early Action/Decision) or January 1 (Regular Decision).

No applications or materials will be accepted after this time. For more information, contact the Office of Admissions or the U-SoA Academic Services Office at 305-284-3731.

Enrollment in the School of Architecture is selective and limited by space and other resources; early application is encouraged.

Admission to the University of Miami is very competitive. Applicants are considered based on the strength of their high school curriculum, grades earned, standardized test scores, letters of recommendation, essay, extracurricular activities, and any awards/achievements. For more Information visit the main UM Admissions website.

The Architecture Faculty Undergraduate Admissions Committee does not recalculate high school GPA's. The Committee uses the GPA (weighted and/or unweighted) provided by each high school. Although not a requirement, a competitive freshman student for admission has:

  1. A strong A-/B+ average
  2. Around a 1320 SAT and/or around a 30 ACT test score
  3. Ranks in the top 10% of their graduating class

It is recommended, but not required, that all School of Architecture applicants submit a portfolio.

A student who meets all of these criteria is not guaranteed admission; however, the closer a student is to this profile, the more competitive that student is for admission.
