The University of Miami School of Architecture invites applications for the U-SoA Teaching Fellowship. The fellowship mission promotes teaching and research that investigates Miami and/or its region as a testing ground of contemporary issues in the built environment. Its thematic focus is on justice in the built environment, tackling specific issues and questions in times of political, social, and professional change.
The Fellowship is a full time, one- or two-term appointment with the possibility of an extension for additional terms. Fellows will be expected to teach the equivalent of 12 credits, a combination that may include studios, lecture courses, seminars, or workshops, depending on the Fellow’s particular research and teaching aims. Research proposals may address a broad range of disciplinary interests and scales, including architecture, urbanism, landscape, real estate, cultural criticism related to the built environment, history and theory related to the built environment, architectural or environmental technology, or design studies. Successful proposals will share a vision of pursuing belonging in the built environment.
Fellows will be provided with a salary and research fund commensurate with experience, as well as financial support for participation with the Center for Global Black Studies. Fellows are expected to participate in the life of the school, including presenting a public lecture and/or exhibition with the possibility of publication.
Applicants will be considered with equal weight given to past academic, professional, or relevant life experience, with specific attention to underrepresented candidates.
